PlaySpace Montessori builds on young students’ curiosity for learning by emphasising the importance of play-based approaches in preschool, project-based learning in elementary grades, and independence under the globally recognised Montessori guidelines.
Our Approach
PlaySpace Montessori builds on young students’ curiosity for learning by emphasising the importance of play in addition to Montessori. Every day we bring enjoyment, wonder, and discovery into our spaces to help our students build a strong foundation for a life-long love of learning. Our Open-station climate fosters collaboration, and our multi-age setting allows the younger students to learn from their older peers, taking on leadership roles when ready. From Grade 1 onwards, students put their academic learning into practice, working on theme-based curriculums, inspired from a Project-Based-Learning (PBL) approach. Students have the opportunity to explore topics in a variety of ways, using their potential, individual interests and learning-styles. The purpose of the PlaySpace Montessori program is to help students strengthen their full potential as independent learners who are prepared to be active-leaders, resilient and valuable members of the society.
Our Curriculum
EARLY YEARS
At PlaySpace Montessori School Phnom Penh, our Early Years Programme combines the child-centred principles of Montessori education with modern play-based and inquiry-led learning approaches.
Research in early childhood education shows that young children learn best through hands-on experiences, creativity, movement, exploration, and social interaction. Our programme provides a safe, engaging, and stimulating environment where children develop confidence, independence, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through meaningful learning experiences.
We carefully balance Montessori practices with play-based and project-based activities throughout our preschool and kindergarten classrooms. Through purposeful play, children strengthen their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development while building creativity, teamwork, and curiosity about the world around them.
Montessori materials remain an important part of our classrooms, encouraging children to learn independently through exploration, repetition, and hands-on discovery. Each activity is designed to build concentration, confidence, coordination, and a lifelong love of learning.
Our goal is to nurture happy, confident, and capable learners who are well prepared for both school and life.
Our Curriculum
PRIMARY YEARS
At PlaySpace Montessori School Phnom Penh, our Primary Years programme provides a balanced and engaging education designed to support the academic, social, emotional, and creative development of every child within a Montessori-inspired learning environment.
Students engage in English Language Arts, Khmer Language, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Art, Physical Education, Typing and Digital Literacy, alongside storytelling, role play, collaborative games, project-based learning, and practical hands-on activities that encourage creativity, exploration, and real-world problem-solving.
Children are encouraged to design, build, create, and experiment through collaborative challenges and hands-on projects using craft materials, recycled resources, construction activities, and supervised tools that promote teamwork, innovation, and critical thinking.
Rooted in Montessori philosophy while embracing the needs of modern learners, our programme encourages independence, curiosity, communication, and meaningful learning through building, designing, experimenting, and collaborative exploration.
To enrich learning, we thoughtfully incorporate Twinkl Interactive and Minecraft Education into selected classroom projects and activities. These tools are used purposefully and in moderation to complement hands-on learning, with screen time limited to short, engaging project-based tasks.
Minecraft Education supports STEM, literacy, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving through collaborative building challenges and interactive learning experiences, while Twinkl Interactive resources reinforce key literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies skills through engaging, personalised activities.
By blending Montessori principles with purposeful modern technology and hands-on learning experiences, we help prepare children with the confidence, adaptability, creativity, and future-ready skills needed to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

He has extensive expertise in school operations, institutional management, team coordination, taxation, auditing processes, and administrative compliance.

He is dedicated to supporting a safe, nurturing, and well-structured Montessori environment that promotes children’s holistic growth and development.
Vanda holds a verified certification in IFRS for SMEs from CamEd Business School, along with academic backgrounds in Business Management and Chinese Literature. He has also completed Montessori training, further strengthening his understanding of child-centered education and Montessori philosophy. In addition, he has completed professional Accounting and Financial Management programs with ACLEDA Bank, further strengthening his expertise in financial administration and operational management. His professional background reflects strong capabilities in financial administration, operational planning, institutional leadership, compliance management, and organizational development.
With a strong commitment to professionalism, collaboration, and educational excellence, Vanda works closely with school leaders, teachers, staff, families, and private tutors to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the campus. He is deeply committed to supporting student well-being and creating a positive, inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued, safe, and empowered to reach their full potential. He works collaboratively with educators, families, and staff to promote each child's academic progress, personal growth, confidence, and overall development.

As Head Teacher at PlaySpace Montessori School Phnom Penh, he works closely with students, teachers, and families to create engaging, child-centred learning experiences that encourage creativity, confidence, and independence.
Daniel has taught in a wide range of educational settings, including as a university teacher at International Menéndez Pelayo University. He has also worked as a Business English teacher for Airbus and as an educator and business teacher for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, delivering professional language and communication training within international business environments.
With a background in business and education, Daniel specialises in English language development, phonics, STEM and STEAM education, and Montessori-integrated teaching approaches. He is known for bringing energy, humour, and hands-on learning into the classroom, helping children learn through exploration, storytelling, games, practical activities, and real-world experiences.
Daniel is also the creator of original educational materials and curriculum projects designed to make learning more exciting, meaningful, and accessible for young learners. He is passionate about building positive school communities, supporting teacher development, and creating learning environments where every child feels valued and inspired.
Outside of education, Daniel enjoys motorcycle mechanics, curriculum design, creative projects, and exploring Cambodian culture and language.
